Staying at Lakmali's place in Runakanda Forest is definitely one of my top 5 favorite places in Sri Lanka. I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to stay there, especially with my mom, as it was her first time in Sri Lanka,and she absolutely loved every moment of it! The food was beyond incredible! Each meal was showcasing the rich and flavorful Sri Lankan cuisine. The peaceful and serene surroundings of the forest made it the perfect escape. It’s a truly tranquil place where we could relax, and the location was just ideal for enjoying authentic local experiences. We had the chance to pick tea just a short walk away from the cottage, a unique experience that we’ll never forget. We also had the pleasure of meeting wonderful people, and the warm hospitality made our stay feel special. My mom and I both agreed that it was a stay we’ll cherish forever. I can’t recommend Lakmali’s place highly enough for anyone looking for a peaceful, authentic, and unforgettable experience in SL !

Beautiful accommodation and location! Easy to get transport to either galle or unawatuna! Delicious food for a good price served at the premises as well!

Staying with Thisarn and family was like Airbnb used to be - unique, special and like you were invited into the real heart of the country you are visiting. I felt so lucky to experience this little piece of paradise in the rice paddies. It was so peaceful to just sit and watch the nature. Such a calming place! Thisarn was so kind to escort me on a tour of the rainforest for a very reasonable fee, and is an expert at spotting creatures and making the whole experience fun. Meals were delicious and had that extra home cooked love! I would recommend this place to anyone who loves being in nature and just soaking up the local vibes of this small village. Also recommend using the infinity pool up the road by the national park entrance for a small fee. And swimming in the river near Thisarns home is lovely too. Thanks to Thisarn and family for their kindness.

We had the best time at the villa. The minute we entered we were in awe of the place. It actually looked better than the pictures. We were a bunch of girls and skeptical about the safety as it was a new country but Binara made us feel right at home. There was periodical cleaning at the villa with a caretaker always at the property. The pool was always maintained clean and the team maintained privacy as well. Binara was always helpful and responsive. The location is bang on as well. Walkable to beach and 5 mins to all the famous cafes like Kai, cactus etc. couldn’t have asked for a better place to live in SriLanka. Highly recommend this place- be it with you family or friends.

Thank you to Shafeena, Sahal and the team at Buona Vista Heights for providing one of the best holiday experiences we’ve ever had. The property, staff, surroundings far exceeded our expectations. The food was exceptional - we ate out a couple of times but quickly realised that the best food was cooked by Sahal and his team at home. We experienced delicious Sri Lankan cuisine including chilli fresh crab. Communication was excellent from the moment i booked the property which was very re-assuring having never visited Sri Lanka. All our excursions were arranged through Sahal, including a day trip to Yala National park - this made it so easy for us to make the most of our time in Sri Lanka. The property is so peaceful and a sanctuary but only a short tuk tuk trip to the hustle of Unawatuna shops, bars, restaurants and beach. We were a group of friends travelling from Australia, Uk and Dubai and we have all agreed that we will return. Thanks again to all at Buona Vista

This is a very wonderful stay, the overall feeling is very good. You can see the sea👍🏻 from the bed, and I saw a super beautiful sunset on the first day. Every night, accompanied by the sound of the waves, this natural white noise🛌, the host also prepared fruit, very delicious😋 It's a little bit far from the central attractions,🛺 5 minutes by tuk-tuk to the town, but that's the great thing, because you can avoid a lot of the attraction salespeople Anyway, it's fantastic. My friends and I really want to continue staying.

We just returned from the most unforgettable stay at this stunning private villa in the south of Sri Lanka, and we’re still floating from the experience! We were 3 families with 6 young kids (ages 3 to 8), and this place was pure paradise for all of us. From the moment we booked, the host Sophie was an absolute gem—warm, welcoming, incredibly responsive, and full of helpful tips to make our stay extra smooth. The villa itself? Breathtaking. Think lush gardens, open tropical spaces, beautifully designed rooms, and a serene vibe that instantly makes you feel relaxed and at home. It was spacious enough for our group to feel comfortable and connected, with plenty of areas for the kids to explore and the adults to unwind. And the staff! So friendly, so kind, and so attentive. But the real star of the show was Dias, the private chef, who absolutely blew us away with his who absolutely blew us away with his cooking. If you’re thinking of staying here—do it. This place is magic.

Me and my wife like this place so much! The location is the best for house on the beach! The view is amazing, the rooms are clear and comfortable. Hot water and AC in every bedroom. Big living room and comfortable kitchen. Two minutes with Tuk tuk from the city center. And we appreciate the hospitality and help of our host Shashi, who was available at all times!
