The Spring House: a quiet off-grid retreat

The Spring House is a 13’ x 13’ off-grid straw bale cabin sitting above Taunton Bay among coastal lakes and mountains. Sleeps two; or two adults and a small child. The cabin uses a dry composting toilet outhouse, LED solar lights, and water gathered from a nearby spring. It includes a wood stove and two-burner propane stove for cooking. Enjoy yoga practice or relax on the porch. Our location is not for everyone; please read our description carefully and see if this adventure is right for you!

Little Lodge - Centrally located in Downeast Maine

Great family vacation base for a Downeast Maine Adventure. Two story, newly renovated, four season cabin with 1000 square feet of living space sits in a wooded cove off an easily-accessible rural paved road. Centrally located between the two units of Acadia National Park (Mount Desert Island and Schoodic Peninsula) and the beautiful, quiet lakes and mountains of the Donnell Pond Maine State Preserve. Although not on the water, there is access to our private Taunton Bay shore, 3.5 miles away.

Early Riser barn-loft on Organic farm near Acadia

A unique offering for those who want a true farm experience! A clean, rustic above-barn space. Farm animals live below-Mr Teach the roo may crow (early!) chickens will cluck! There is a 2 burner stove, cold water sink seasonally(jugs provided in winter) a dorm fridge, and basic kitchen ware. Tea and coffee provided, veg & eggs for sale. The shower is at the main house, (either indoor or outdoor) and a bucket-style compost toilet is in the apartment. There’s a full bed and a fold out couch.

Our secluded getaway offers two first floor bedrooms, full bath, open kitchen/living area with cathedral ceilings plus a large lofted space appointed with two twin beds. Relax on large wrap around deck as you admire the water views while enjoying the sights and sounds of a picturesque stream meandering through property en route to the cove. 270' of protected cove frontage for great swimming/kayaking.

Bear Cabin Near Acadia, Downeast Maine, Lake

"Bear" cabin is one of four new cabins at Dickens Farms in Eastbrook Maine. Our cabins are spaced for privacy and each has its own fire pit, propane grill and picnic area. You can enjoy water access to Abrams Pond for swimming, fishing, and kayaking. Two kayaks are provided per cabin for your use. . Sit in the screened in porch and listen to nature or head into Acadia National Park to explore. Bike along the private road. Relax with your family for a quick getaway or week long adventure.

Due to prior incidents we unfortunately do not accept pets any longer. She's called Tranquility for a reason. Constructed in 2022, Tranquility boasts 1300 sqft of living paradise with private frontage on Georges Pond. Just minutes from the Maine Coastal Highway, Route 1, and a short 30 minute drive to Mt. Desert Island hosting Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. Enjoy canoeing, kayaking, fishing, swimming, camp fires and cook some lobstah enjoying all the privacy you can handle.

A wall of glass faces 3 mountains. Home is located 200’ from the Donnell Pond Rd and offers access to the Downeaster Rails to Trails for Atv’s. Donnell Pond offers great kayaking,boating ,swimming and fishing. Great sand beaches surrounded by the mountains you see from the house.

Snow Sweet at The Appleton Retreat is very private, check out the Trail Map. This contemporary yurt faces the Field of Dreams and has a nice view of Appleton Ridge. It features a private therapeutic hot tub on the deck, a fire pit, and fast wifi. The Appleton Retreat encompasses 120 acres hosting six unique retreats. To the south is the Pettengill Stream, a resource protected area. To the north is the Nature Conservancy's 1300 acre reserve.
