Footbridge Farm is a quiet country get-away located on 90 wooded acres, 15 miles NE of Decorah. We are close to the mouth of Canoe Creek, the Upper Iowa River and adjacent to state DNR land. The cozy owner-built cabin has an open ceiling with exposed beams and rafters giving a sense of spaciousness. Local stone was used in the exterior walls and the floor-to-ceiling fire back behind the wood-burning stove. The floors are oak and slate. Detailed craftsmanship can be found throughout the cabin.

This location has 2 bathrooms, a relaxing loft and the most dreamy porch. *WARNING* When booking in the winter be aware of our driveway shown in the picture. We highly recommend 4 wheel drive. What a wonderful, unique place to stay! Great care and attention have been paid to every detail. We thoroughly enjoyed doing the scavenger hunt activity in the guest book, which has interesting info about various farm tools, then you find where in the home/barn they have been repurposed. We were amazed by the creativity that went into repurposing all of the items! Additionally, everything felt sparkling clean, which I think is an amazing feat, given the rustic nature of the decor. The location was peaceful and relaxing, and there were books, magazines, and games to occupy the kids when they weren't outside swinging or finding dandelions to make wishes on. Patrick was a great host and very responsive with his communication. We highly recommend staying here, and we look forward to returning!

Loved staying in Ann's house; it was such a comfortable and yet beautifully appointed home, just 1 block off Water (the actual main) street, in a quiet neighborhood. The beds were amazingly comfortable, we enjoyed wine and snacks while relaxing on the 3 season porch. Absolutely would stay here again next time we're in Decorah!

Us childhood friends get together every year and meet somewhere to catch up. We enjoy golfing, fishing, etc. We've been doing this for almost 20 years and this location and house has been our favorite to date. Fishing was good on the river, but Stone creek behind the house was elevated do to recent rainfalls, so I could not search it for arrowheads and other artifacts that are around there. I did go out into the field and found many flakes from rocks that were worked. The best find was a scrapper I found. We golfed at Sunny Brae golf course 3 days in a row. The house was clean and it was very nice to have 2 full baths in the house. No other houses in view, very secluded but just off the highway with a long paved lane. No gravel. Had a couple sessions around the campfire and when it rained one afternoon, we watched a movie. Everything perfect, can't wait to book it with Holly again.
