Cabin in Conche

Off grid cottage with stunning views

Venus & WesleyRating, 5 stars46 months ago
My partner and I initially booked this cottage for 3 nights based on its remoteness and unique location. We were completely blown away by the entire experience, from beginning to end. You couldn't ask for better hosts than Angela and Gerrard! They were very responsive and have carefully planned out the cottage and any needs guests may have, including any weather concerns that may arise since the cottage is accessed by boat. The cottage itself is located on the water across the bay from Conche, initially in a recent little resettled community of immigrants in the mid 1900s, such as Gerrard's family. While these other families have moved on, plenty of history remains in the area, including the old school house and a French cemetery. Gerrard is the perfect person to provide the historical background to this community and his personal ties to this area shone through every aspect of our stay. The cottage was spotless, and was wonderfully cozy with its wood stove and well equipped kitchen. We enjoyed cooking over the outdoor fire pit during the day, having a bonfire at night, and the stargazing was unreal given the seclusion of the property. The main windows overlook the bay leading to the Atlantic Ocean, perfect for a whale spotting. We loved spending time hiking and exploring the beaches, along the cliff sides, and further inland where evidence of moose were abound. Overall if you enjoy wildlife spotting, listening to ocean waves, breathing in fresh Atlantic air during the day, and coming back to a warm and cozy woodstove at night, you cannot go wrong with this cottage and having Angela and Gerrard as your hosts. We already can't wait to return!

Caribou Kitchenette Unit - Raleigh Rooms

KevinRating, 5 stars9 months ago
The community of Raleigh is both beautiful and peaceful, making it a perfect place to escape from your busy life. Our stay at the Raleigh Rooms was perfect in every way. The rooms look brand new and have higher-end finishes than most places we have stayed. We booked a room with a kitchen, which we took full advantage of. We spent our days visiting the surrounding communities and then enjoyed our peaceful nights in Raleigh. We even got to see the Northern Lights right in front of the hotel, which was a lifelong dream. I 100% recommend staying at the Raleigh Rooms during your next visit to the Great Northern Peninsula.
