What you'll do

Program info for guests:

You arrive at my home at 14h.

I offer you some refreshments like coffee, tea, juice and water. After a brief introduction and settling at the work table, we are ready to start.

I will give you some guidance and tools that you will use as a base, but creativity is all yours to unfold. The focus will be on the relationship between shapes and colors. Throughout the process you will experience how shape/s and color/s create a relationship, how they dominate the canvas, and in what way they compliment each other in the painting.
The art you create will be inspired by abstract expressionism; and trust me when I say, YOU do not need any art background for this class. It’s even better if you have none.

During our class, you can ask me any questions, or advice on how to use paint, brush, how to mix colors, etc.
I will also teach you the basics of color wheel scheme. Super fun!

What will you gain in this art class?

-Some of my previous students often gave me feedback on how curious they started to feel as they dived into the assignment. It felt relaxing, mindful, and exciting.

-You do get to keep your masterpiece after the class is over!

-You will learn a bit about color wheel and mixing colors, relationship between shapes and colors, intentional/unintentional abstract expression.

We end at 17h (possible 15 minutes over) and take group photo.

I grew up in an agricultural village by the Danube river near Belgrade, Serbia. I was always a dreamy kid. Did not know I had an art talent until I left for USA at 19, where by chance, I started studies of fine arts at Montgomery College in Houston . My raw talent caught the attention of the art community and I was invited to attend SUNY at Purchase as an international merit scholar in 1999.

In 2001 I returned to Serbia and began to explore the genesis of creativity in the subconscious, developing my abstract expressionist style on canvas. Since my return to Europe, my work has been shown in exhibits in Belgrade, London, Berlin, The Hague and Amsterdam.

I currently live and work between Amsterdam and Belgrade and I am a member of the Association of Applied Arts Artists and Designers of Serbia.

Where you'll be

Experience is in my Amsterdam apartment.

It is a large well light room with a high ceilings and large windows on opposite sides of the room, stretching from front to back of the building.
Space is very artsy, decorated with my art and some art from my friends, as well as selected crafty souvenirs from my distant travels.

This workshop is REALLY special. My husband and I had the most wonderful afternoon creating with Ana in her home where you feel like a guest, the relaxing atmosphere brings out the fun side of art! We each painted something filled with whimsy and will always remind us of our special day in Amsterdam. Don’t hesitate to bring a non artist to this experience, Ana had a great knack with my guy and he was blown away what he could make in a few hours with a little guidance, so great, thank you Ana!!

My partner and I had a lovely time at Ana’s art class. Being an artist herself, Ana provided us with valuable guidance and encouraged us to explore our artistic side. She provided great instructions, supplies, was patient, kind and passionate about abstract art. We learned about shapes, colors and textures in a fun and engaging way. We met new interesting people and connected through art! Everyone got to take home their abstract art creation :) We definitely recommend this class to anyone interested in art-making (nice to do as a couple!). Ana’s warmth and hospitality created a welcoming atmosphere which inspired us and made this an unforgettable experience!

This was a magical experience. I’m not particularly artistic but this experience allowed me to engage in a relaxing creative process that felt great. Time flew and I learned about color and composition and was able to create a piece of art to take home. It was also lovely to be in Ana’s home and see her art, ask questions about her development as an artist. I would happily spend another day with Ana being guided gently through an artistic process. Highly recommend!

Ana is an absolutely wonderful host and very welcoming. I had a fantastic experience with her and the other participants. I felt like I could truly relax and just get into the groove of painting without thinking too hard or criticizing myself. Ana was helpful without being overbearing, and welcomed our questions. I think it's safe to say we all learned a lot about the creation of abstract art. 10 out of 10, would definitely attend again :)
