What you'll do

On board of my "sanpierotta"( tipically wooden boat of lagoon fishermen) we'll make a trip that, throught the places of the present city, exploring the stories from the past. We'll wander about the lagoon and the city, conversing ( if you want..) for about 2 hours. To see Venice from the water perspective it's essential to understand Venice.

I was born in Venice and I listened to its stories since when I was a child, then I studied them on the books. Now I find these stories when I walk through the alleys, inside the labyrinth af the canals, in a small square , flooded with sunlight or on the thights shores swalloved up from the fog...On board with me is my wife ( arrived in Venice from Germany for love, 25 years ago) which share with me the love for this city.

Where you'll be

The tour starts from Lido, pass through the southern part of the lagoon, where there are many small islands (Lazzaretto vecchio, San Lazzaro degli Armeni, San Servolo). Than we'll go to the city centre, coasting The Giudecca island and inside Dorsoduro, Santa Croce along the small canals to Cannaregio and after we'll arrive to the North lagoon, S.Michele and the Arsenale. The tour finish after one hour and a half in Castello.

This was one of the best parts of our stay in Venice. Paolo and Utta took us out to the lagoon and talked about the smaller islands, round the Arsenale, which we wouldn't have visited otherwise, past some of the Biennale pavilions and installations, and along some of the small canals.

Nice trip and interesting introduction to Venice history from seaside - the way to experience it. Paolo offered flexibility according to the weather and accepted us to bring our tweens. We recommend the tour!

The tour with Paolo and his wife made our day in Venice perfect. He has a good knowledge about the history of the city. We had only one day in the city and so it was a really good possibility to get some information, see many interesting places and to be on the water.

We truly enjoyed this boat tour with Paolo and Ute. It opened us several places in Venice (e.g. the Arsenal area) which are off the touristic tracs and were very interesting and exciting to us. Paolo and Ute were highly knowledgable and revealed genuine stories about Venices' history and today's life in Venice. We would highly recommend to join this tour!

Paolo and his wife Ute took us through a journey of the smaller islands of Venice and the area of Arsenale and Castello by boat. They were very knowledgable about the history and putting it a relevant context of then society, politics and economy. Also telling us interesting customs and festivals of Venetians. We saw the main sites of the Biennale from the water.
