What you'll do

During two and a half hours of our experience, we will walk along a slope where we will see the different types of plants representative of the area. We will make stops to see with binoculars the colors that contrast on one side the sea and on the other the desert. Upon reaching the top of our destination we will see the entire city of La Paz and its bay. We will wait for the sunset and we will marvel at what happens with the natural environment when the sun goes down. Like seeing the birds return to their nests. Later we will go down to see the moon or the brightness of the stars in a large sky vault and with the help of a star chart define some constellations and try to take some pictures and finish our walk. No matter the level of experience what we are looking for is that you take a magical memory of this unique view of the beautiful pearl of La Paz and of the spectacular that shows the starry sky of the Baja California desert.

I am a biologist and instructor of outdoor activities and founder of Up 100 La Paz México. For 35 years I have been doing and teaching outdoor activities throughout the Mexican Republic in different levels of intensity, I love to contemplate nature, without impacting the environment and capture what more beautiful at the moment, because I have developed different conservation projects and I know how to show you that passion. The city of La Paz captivated me because it is surrounded by sea and desert, it will catch you because I will show you from the most strategic parts of the city.

Saul welcomed me with a beaming smile at designated met up . He was very knowledgable about the flora and ecological environment in our walk. Within minutes I was blessed seeing 3 fish eagles and their nesting spot. Cacti were in early flower and I could sample their fruits! Great climb up the volcanic mountainside with spectacular views to sea of Cortez and town of La Paz. Saul has a charming personality and willing to exchange information about Mexican life. He was very caring and attentive. He also assisted by taking some photos of me without having to ask him. Thanks for a fabulous memorable walk. Thoroughly enjoyed myself and a real bonus to spot the eagles!!

Saul did an amazing tour, not only showed the rails to the top of the hill but introduced me to numerous species of local flora and fauna, told me stories on the topography and climate. We got lucky because everything was blooming after a recent rain and we even ate some cacti berries, chillitos. He showed me many roads and trails around and pointed out a few other places to visit. He was very passionate about biology of the place and the impact we as humans making to it. Saul was very generous with his time and let me to do a night photography from the overlook. He makes you feel connected to the place!

Si o si, es una experiencia que tienes que añadir a tu visita en La Paz; Saúl es un tipazo y te hace sentir entre amigos, conoce muy bien la zona y de lo que verás. La conversación es muy amena e interactiva durante el recorrido.

Saúl and his son were excellent hosts. Saúl was very knowledgable about the region and its history, plants, and wildlife. He offered 3 different routes for the hike up, from easiest to steepest, and when our group chose the steeper route he was very supportive of me ( as I am a bit chicken), and I enjoyed every minute. The views were amazing and we were even able to eat some fruits from a small cactus. I recommend to wear hiking boots or good walking shoes, wear mosquito repellant, and definitely take your camera!
