What you'll do

This tour starts at Union Station and ends near Civic Center Park on the opposite end of downtown. After a brief history of Union Station and the surrounding area we will walk to the Dairy Block and check out Milk Market and the Maven Hotel. We will cross the Wall Street of the West and point out The Oxford to learn about the oldest hotel in town. A walk through Lodo will lead us to Larimer Square, the oldest block in town. Walking alongside the Cherry Creek, we will talk about the early history of Denver with a view of the original Auraria settlement. Our next stop is the Denver Center for Performing Arts followed by the Convention Center with a stop at the Big Blue Bear. A short walk back to the 16th Street Mall to point out the attractions and eateries will give you insight into the retail history of downtown. The tour ends near Civic Center Park with views of the State Capitol, City and County Building, Supreme Court, Public Library and the Denver Art Museum. If you need to get back to Union Station, I will help you navigate the Free Mall Ride Shuttle which runs in a loop up and down the 16th Street Mall from Civic Center to Union Station.

For twenty years, I have lived in Denver and worked in hospitality and customer service. My professional experience began as a campus tour guide for both potential as well as incoming students and their families on the Auraria Campus. The enjoyment I felt from campus tours motivated me to attain a degree in Tourism Management in 2015 from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
I was a volunteer tour guide at the Colorado State Capitol from 2016 to 2019. Starting in 2017, I have worked as a full-time guide leading Cannabis, Brewery, Bicycle, Food and Sightseeing tours of the Rocky Mountains, Pikes Peak and Mt. Evans. I have lead tours for thousands of people from around the world and consider myself to be the best guide in the city and county of Denver.

Where you'll be

Union Station is a beautifully renovated train station and the hub of commerce in the city of Denver. Larimer Square is where Denver began to take shape and Larimer Street was the city's first main street. The Denver Center for the Performing Arts is the second largest performing arts venue in the country. Civic Center Park is a great example of the City Beautiful Movement which was a promoted by civic leaders, landscapers and architects.

Austin is a really cool guide. He's very personable and really cares about making this a fun experience for you. He was kind of enough to reschedule since it was snowing on my original date and I wasn't comfortable driving in the snow. I met him on another day and I was surprised to find out he had rescheduled just for me. I mean, if that doesn't say great customer service, right? He then cheerfully took me all around downtown Denver and explained the history behind buildings, streets, and how the city came about. He was even kind enough to offer information about other things to do after the tour and in the next few days. He really is the best tour guide. I would HIGHLY, highly recommend booking this experience with Austin when coming to visit Denver even if you've already spent time here. He will help you appreciate this city SO MUCH more!

Austin got to know us and how familiar we were with Denver’s history and culture which allowed him to tailor the experience for us on an individual level. He was captivating in his story telling as he tied in multiple eras of knowledge and related them to modern day issues currently going on in the city. It was a very pleasant and enjoyable experience. I could easily go on another tour next time I am in town.
