What you'll do

After meeting at the yacht club we will jump aboard and do a short safety briefing before casting off and heading out into the Atlantic ocean.

If the prevailing weather conditions allow, a typical experience will begin with some sailing between Granger Bay (Greenpoint stadium) and Robben Island. Guests will have the opportunity to steer the boat and learn about other aspects of yachting such as heel angle, sail trim, and apparent wind.

Depending on the conditions, we will either find time to anchor at one of the safe anchorages along the coastline, such as Clifton beach, or decide to keep sailing. If anchored there will be an opportunity to swim* and take photos. We will serve snacks and a choice of wines, beer, ciders and soft drinks.

At the end of the experience, we will head back to the marina.

*Please note that swimming in proximity to a beach is dependent on the lockdown regulations. If beaches are closed, we are unfortunately not legally allowed to swim off the boat.

Additional info:
The skipper and crew are professional and qualified to sail a yacht competently in a variety of weather conditions. We take your safety as our first priority.

For 2021, Mackenzie Wood will be the primary skipper aboard Moonshadow. Mackenzie grew up sailing dinghies at the Royal Hamilton Yacht Club on Lake Ontario in Canada. She raced 29ers and 420s competitively before stepping up onto keelboats. She then moved to Australia where she obtained her RYA Yachtmaster Offshore qualification with commercial endorsement. She is an expert in coastal waters and celestial navigation. She has come to know Table Bay like the back of her hand and will ensure that you have a fantastic time sailing with us.

Mackenzie and Luke were brilliant, knowledgeable & skilled hosts on a beautiful 43 ft sloop for some real sailing (wind, sea spray + for those who are interested, learning some basic sailing skills) You can either relax or get active. If this is what you’re after, I highly recommend them.
