What you'll do

Drink like a King! At least for an hour...

Sip your way through this wine tasting experience as we take a journey across the captivating story of Cyprus Commandaria - an ancient Cypriot wine that has been in production since the begining of time! Known as “The King of Wines and the Wine of the Kings” named by the Knights Templar in the 12th century, Commandaria holds two Guinness world records for the oldest named and still manufactured wine in the world.

We’ll begin by recounting historical turning points in Commandaria’s fabled past, from the ancient Greeks, to the Crusaders, to today's reality. We’ll learn how this amber-colored dessert wine is produced, and explore Commandaria’s various styles, methods of drinking, and food pairings. To cap off the experience, I will share a professional-level wine tasting analysis (See-Smell-Taste-Swallow) to help you better appreciate your next bottle of vino.

Our free-flowing discussion is designed to equip you with the basic knowledge to be a smart wine buyer and a Commandaria wine geek among your friends. This experience is an excellent team-building activity or date idea for wine-loving couples.

There’s history in every wine bottle and a story with every sip. Looking forward to sharing this fascinating wine experience with you.

Pambos did an excellent job of combining wine knowledge with history-history dating back to 800 B.C. This experience reinforced why we enjoy wine so much-there’s always so much more to learn. Pambos was knowledgeable and personable and made this a fun and educational experience. Don’t miss the opportunity to learn about this fascinating wine!

This was a fantastic experience! Pambos is a great teacher and is clearly so passionate about wine. I was the only person who signed up for my time slot so I had a chance to talk to Pambos a lot about wine, cheese, and Cypriot culture. I can’t wait to try commandaria wine and hopefully one day try it in Cyprus!

Pambos gave a great explanation about the wine and it's history. He showed the various storage techniques used. We also discussed the wine and it's characteristics. It was a fun way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

Wine of Cyprus holds a heritage of its own and Pambos does a fantastic job at explaining that. The experience dives down a really interesting history as well as present of the local wine and the touch of a maestro of a host makes the tour a remarkable one. A highly recommended tour for the enthusiasts and a really well deserved homage for the Wine of Kings.

We had a seamless journey through the history of Commandaria wine with a lot of interesting facts about what made it famous among the kings of Europe. The presentation by Pambos was very lively. It was well supported by maps, pictures and videos presenting the history of this unique wine as well as its current status in Cyprus. The presentation also included a peek at the work at the wineries, offering us a very insightful view of Commandaria wine in the making. Regarding the live tasting, Pambos guided it really well, adjusting his focus according to the wine knowledge of each participant but without ever oversimplifying the information he provided. He also took a lot of care in providing the relevant answer to each of our questions. Overall, I absolutely recommend this experience to anyone curious to discover not only a new type of wine but also a lesser known wine region with a rich winemaking history. Thank you very much Pambos for this enjoyable experience!
