Relax & Recharge-Lakefront Dock, Sauna & Swim Spa

LauraRating, 5 stars6 days ago
Adriana was very responsive and helpful. The home was very clean. Loved the no touch hand soap in all the bathrooms. S’mores forks and lighter was a welcome surprise. The local Goat was one of her restaurant recommendations. It was awesome! Very nice pots and pans in the kitchen. The driveway and the walk down to the lake are both very steep. You can drive around instead but beware the cardinals are infatuated with the windows and mirrors. We had to find a car wash after their visit!

Lakefront Oasis- Steps to Water- Private Boat Ramp

HeatherRating, 5 stars4 weeks ago
Absolutely loved our first stay with them that we extended our stay with them. Stayed in two different locations. Couldn't have asked for a better host! Our first stay was on the lake. Host recommended different places for us. We had never been in the area. House had enough to entertain us that we only went shopping! Kitchen was amazing. It was just like as if I was home, but better! Second stay was a peaceful camper that had friendly neighbors as well. Camper was close enough to everything but secluded that it matched what we was looking for. Our dogs loved both locations as well. Was not a hassle or headache with the fur babies. To say the least we can not wait to stay again! We were already wanting to book another stay before we even left! Will definitely be booking again.

Bridget and Daniel’s home is beautiful and the direct view of the lake is very peaceful. We enjoyed the game room and there are plenty of restaurants nearby to eat. We were happy to stay at the house and enjoy family time mostly. And s’mores by the fire pit provided a fun time as well. We would definitely like to go back!

Lakefront - Unbelievable 3 levels w/Elevator!

BenjaminRating, 5 stars5 months ago
My family and I truly enjoyed our stay at Lake Luxury. The amenities were amazing! We had so much fun in the game room, watching movies in the theater, sitting on the back porch, and hanging around the fire pit. We had 14 adults and 3 young children in our group and we all were comfortable with plenty of space. The mountain views were absolutely beautiful and the drive to the tourist attractions wasn't bad at all. A couple of small maintenance issues came up while we were there, but Scot the property manager was quick to respond and readily available to swing by and help us get everything situated. Everyone was truly happy and we had a great Christmas. We would definitely stay at Lake Luxury again!

2BR Riverfront Cottage w/Fireplace | Pet Friendly!

My family and I enjoyed our stay at Jen and Mikes place. Beautiful home with plenty of room. Beds were comfortable. The neighborhood is beautiful and quiet. Unfortunately there was not much water behind the house this time of year, but we found a great fishing pond with a waterfall just minutes away that our dogs and granddaughter loved. There are great restaurants in the close by downtown area.

Pepper Jack Shack

The place was wonderful! It’s the perfect combination of rustic and cozy, with beautiful views of the Smokes. My husband and I definitely felt at home durning our stay. We had a wonderful time unplugging, and feeling like we were away from others, but less then 10 minutes from the local Walmart, for those last minute forgot to packs! Jeff is a great host, and gets back in a timely matter.

Absolutely Amazing Place!! Kristin met us with a smile and drove us up in her jeep! A 4×4 is definitely needed to get up the mountain! The location spectacular with the most amazing views and if you're lucky, you'll see some of prettiest sunsets you've ever witnessed! The tent was stocked with everything we needed and it was decorated very tastefully! My only regret is only having 2 nights! We were able to unplug and unwind completely! No people or traffic for a few days was exactly what we needed! I will definitely be back to rent this place out again, only will be adding a couple more nights! We'd also like to try out Glampventures other rentals! Thank you Kristin for welcoming us and being over the top kind and welcoming! This was the best Air B&B I've stayed in and I've stayed at quite a few. Worth every penny!! If you need some peace and quiet, don't hesitate to book with Glampventures!! You won't be disappointed!!

We loved staying in Dan and Veronica’s lake house on Douglas Lake! The house was clean, the surroundings were absolutely stunning, and the outdoor spaces and other amenities provided us with space for entertaining our adult children. The private boat dock was a major plus, especially since it was tucked away in a private cove and was perfect for swimming and relaxing. Definitely a place we will return to!

Your guide to Douglas Lake

Welcome to Douglas Lake

Like many of the state’s major bodies of water, Douglas Lake is a man-made reservoir that was the result of the Tennessee Valley Authority creating the Douglas Dam from the French Broad River in the 1940s to provide hydroelectric power and help with flood control in the Tennessee River Valley. Renowned for its fishing — it’s one of the top spots in the nation for largemouth bass and crappie, thus drawing major fishing competitions to the area — Douglas Lake is 45 minutes’ drive due east of Knoxville, a magnet to its sparkling waters in warmer months for weekend warriors from the city as well as out-of-state vacationers. Covering more than 28,400 square acres of surface area, the lake straddles Hamblen, Cocke, Jefferson, and Sevier counties, and is also conveniently positioned for Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park — an easy day trip if you’re looking to get away and out of the water. Dandridge is the largest town along the lake, while Baneberry is one of Douglas Lake’s big vacation rental hubs. Newport, just south of the lake, also has numerous cabin rentals.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Douglas Lake

With Tennessee’s relatively mild climate, May through October are prime months for enjoying Douglas Lake. While summers bring in throngs of people, the lake is large enough to accommodate crowds without feeling like you’re vacationing with strangers. Fall is gorgeous and, due to the elevation in East Tennessee, tends to arrive earlier in this part of the state than the rest, with the leaves hitting peak color in early-to-mid-October. Some attractions are only open seasonally in the summer months, while others, such as the Forbidden Caves, have a slightly longer season from April through November. Winter can be cold and gray, but on the plus side, the annual Smoky Mountain Winterfest Celebration illuminates Sevier County’s Parkway with more than five million lights from mid-November through mid-February.

Top things to do in Douglas Lake

Forbidden Caverns

One of Tennessee’s defining features is its cavernous topography, which can be explored subterraneously via any of the state’s many caves that are open to the public. Centuries ago, the Eastern Woodland Indians used the Forbidden Caverns as a water source and for shelter in the winter; later, moonshiners concealed the fruits of their labors here. Today, you can take a guided tour to see the grottos, stalactites, stalagmites, and other cave features for yourself.

Foothills Parkway

A project in the works for the better part of a century, the Foothills Parkway will eventually serve as a 72-mile-long scenic road on the perimeters of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Currently, you can pick it up in nearby Wears Valley and drive the completed section to Walland for picture-perfect glimpses of the Smokies in all their glory.

Tennessee Museum of Aviation

This 50,000-square-foot museum specializes in World War II warbirds with a healthy collection of military vehicles, trainers, fighter jets, helicopters, and amphibious aircraft. Take a self-guided tour through aviation history via the facility’s educational exhibits and knowledgeable docents.
