Varteig has many great hiking trails to offer, swimming at Glomma (within walking distance), berry picking, proximity to Rudskogen and central road to both Rakkestad, Sarpsborg city centre and Sweden (both Nordby and Töcksfors).

Great cabin where you live "on" the water. The cabin is located at Ystehede, by the Iddefjorden, about 10 km from the center of Halden. Here, guests have access to a floating jetty with a bathing ladder, as well as a beach consisting of stone and sand. Here there is outdoor furniture, a gas grill and opportunities to moor your own boat. Here there are many hiking trails in the forest and if you have your own boat you can fish or take the sea route to Halden and on to the Hvalerøyene.

Idylliske Oddland ligger i strandkanten av Skjeklesjøen i Degernes. Huset ligger 10 m fra vannet med egen brygge, vedfyrt badstu og grillplass. Elg, ender og bever som nærmeste nabo i tillegg til husverten. Husverten bor i et nabohus, ellers er det langt til folk. Fine turforhold til fots, sykkel og kano. The Lerbukta Cottage is located in undisturbed, idyllic and peaceful surroundings. The Halden watercourse is floating past, and the distance to the lake Ara is just about 30 metres. The cabin is well equipped and has a large sitting room, kitchen, 2 bedrooms, a tiled bathroom with shower, toilet and a washing machine. There is underfloor heating in the bathroom. The sauna is in the side building. The cabin has WiFi.
