“Eric & Alice provided such a warm, welcoming, and super clean cabin. Being someone who loves to cook, I greatly appreciated the equipped kitchen with everything one would need to cook a nice meal. The surroundings were so relaxing and peaceful and I enjoyed the country; a nice change of pace from Austin. I also appreciated Alice meeting me at the cabin. It was a nice personal touch. I found some remote, beautiful hiking trails for hiking enthusiasts like myself. Absolutely lovely. I plan on coming back with my boyfriend just to spend a couple days exploring the many trails. I drove to Lufkin, about 35 minutes, for beer at Angeline Brewery and dinner at Restoration Bistro. Yummy. I had lunch in Crockett on the way into Kennard at Rosemary's Hilltop Cafe and the fried chicken was amazing!! Just skip the pie. I highly recommend this place.”
Inviting retreat for a peaceful getaway.
“The room we stayed in was amazingly decorated and super tidy. Not only was the room amazing, but the location is filled with history and old artifacts to take a look at. Our electricity went out due to the weather but even then our stay was wonderful. Will definitely return for another weekend getaway!”

“I've never given a 5-star review before. It's not that I'm picky, it's just hard to run a place wonderfully. This is just as advertised and they didn't even highlight their full-size working fireplace or the uncluttered decorations or the effective temperature control or the little touches such as nightlights or the excellent wi-fi. I watched the world go by - one vehicle every half hour. The songbirds distracted me from reading and the natural light in every room was downright healing for this city girl. To say that I'm easily lost is like saying that whales are pretty big. Jerri answered my calls right away, helped me figure out where I was, and guided me home. The one local grocery store is fine for all the basics but if you're used to shopping at places like Trader Joe's or HEB, then bring some things with you. My hope is to go back again for a 6-month stay. So get in while you can.”
