MACOMO is named after "Makomo (true bamboo)". It is a plant of the Poaceae family that grows in colonies along the water's edge and is also called "Makomodake". Because it has a purifying effect on soil and water, it has been called "the grass where the gods dwell" and "the grass of fate" since ancient times, and is considered a sacred plant. It is used as a mat (mushiro) and a tool for purification in Shinto rituals such as at Izumo Taisha Shrine. We hope you have a pleasant trip to this inn. When you pass through the tunnel of autumn leaves (maple), the inn surrounded by trees appears, and the surroundings are very quiet. It is an area where birds (woodpeckers, cuckoos, thrushes, etc.) and animals (flying foxes, foxes, deer, hares, etc.) coexist and thrive. We renovated a 160-year-old traditional house in 2023. The total site is 700 tsubo (2300 m ²), and the building is 170 m ², making it very spacious. While it is an 8-minute drive to Kumamoto Castle, it is a cottage where you can relax and unwind away from the hustle and bustle. The garden is full of trees and flowers, including a large camphor tree that has been there for over 160 years, black pines, Japanese maples, and bamboo forests, so you can enjoy the trees and flowers in all seasons. The host lives in the adjacent building, so you can feel at home. Take a big, deep breath and refresh yourself from the heart. ●Here’s what you need to know · There are many mosquitoes and insects because there is a garden with many trees. If you don't like insects, it may be difficult to enjoy. The facility is located in a very quiet residential area. Hello, this is "Yomei-no-Yado". Yanagawa, a historic town on the waterfront. We renovated a vacant house in the Okiha shopping district where Kitahara Hakushu's family home is located, and created a single-family home where you can try out moving from accommodation to living (trial living). The house has been renovated with plenty of natural wood to make it comfortable. The furniture is made with the full cooperation of Hiromatsu Moku, and you can experience lovely furniture. It is both an inn and a home where you can live as if you were blending into the city while retaining the nostalgic atmosphere of a Showa-era house. In the Japanese-style room, we have a Tanabata decoration for the summer only. Guests can write their wishes on a strip of paper and display them.
