Designer Home near University of Texas

Our Treehouse apartment is a mere 550 square feet, but the high ceilings and sunlight from the storefront-sized windows make it feel more spacious. The apartment footprint is modest to accommodate the mature American elm tree just a few feet away, a protected heritage tree. We lived an entire year in the Treehouse while our home was being renovated, so we can vouch for how comfy it is for a couple. The sofa bed is queen sized and comfortably accommodates two adults, but we definitely do not recommend our apartment for more than four adults. And if you're on the fence about a rental car in Austin, we vote yes. While it's totally possible to get around without a car, this IS Texas after all. The Salt Lick, the Wildflower Center, the Oasis, Jester King, Circuit of the Americas, etc. are not cheap cab fares! The exception to the rental car rec is for SXSW and ACL, or if you plan to be working at the University of Texas, Dell Children's Hospital or med school or some other downtown location where parking will be tough. There is a small outdoor seating area at the bottom of the apartment stairs. You will also have a parking spot in the gravel lot next to the garage off the alley. We both receive messages through the Airbnb messaging app and respond as quickly as possible, but please phone if it's extremely urgent. Hyde Park is Austin's oldest suburb, established in 1891. Unlike the rest of the city, it seems to be the only place that hasn't changed too much in the last 25 years. The house is a quick bus or cab ride from busy downtown. If you're on the fence about a rental car in Austin, we vote yes. While it's totally possible to get around without a car, this IS Texas where our cities were planned around roads. The Salt Lick, the Wildflower Center, the Oasis, Jester King, Circuit of the Americas, etc. are not cheap fares! The exception to the rental car rec is for SXSW and ACL, or if you plan to be working at the University of Texas, Dell Children's Hospital or med school or some other downtown location where parking will be tough. In that case, there are several different bus lines within a couple of blocks from the Treehouse. You'll see the small Metro Rail pass within a block our place, but the nearest stop is 1.7 miles away (Highland). Check out the Capital Metro website for more info or to load money to their app. Our favorite ride share companies are Ride Austin and Lyft -- it's rare that you ever wait more than 5 minutes for a ride from our place. We also live within the car2go car share service area.

Charming Chestnut Carriage House in East Austin

Everything’s within reach at this contemporary carriage house featuring vibrant wood floors, trendy furnishings, and heaps of natural light. Brew coffee in a snug kitchen with marble surfaces and have a seat on the balcony overlooking the yard. This carriage house is great for a long term stay or a staycation! Due to the coronavirus, we’re taking extra care to disinfect frequently touched surfaces between reservations. The carriage house has been professionally cleaned using CDC recommended guidelines. The builders of this space spared no expense on the details and finishes of this property. It is exquisite! The private entrance makes it feel like your own slice of Austin. Speaking of slices: check out East Side Pies for pizza nearby and The Wheel, Whislers, or Kitty Cohen’s for a cocktail! The Mueller development is 2 miles away where the H-E-B grocery store is located if you’re looking to cook your own meals in the kitchen. Guest access is through the right-side fence gate while facing the main house on property from the street. Access codes will be provided upon booking. The carriage house includes a balcony patio that guests may use. We’re available when you need us and you can also have all the privacy you like. We’ll gladly give you suggestions of things to see and do in Austin. The home is set in the East Austin neighborhood of Chestnut and a short drive away from vibrant eateries, BBQ joints, brewpubs, and parks. The University of Texas is nearby and Downtown’s iconic music venues and nightlife are minutes away by car. The MLK, Jr. Red Line light rail station is a short 8min walk from the unit and can be used to get into downtown or to AustinFC soccer games! Uber or Lyft are recommended to get around Austin. You can usually find one of the scooters 🛴 down the street near MLK Blvd as well. If you have a personal vehicle or rental car you may use street parking in front of the main home. City of Austin Short Term Rental license on file. ***As a legally registered and licensed short term rental operator, we must collect City of Austin Hotel Occupancy Taxes of 9%. This tax is INCLUDED in the nightly room rate.***
