“This is a lovely little studio in Birmingham. I was arriving in town to take the Alabama state bar exam during COVID-19 after the hotel across from the convention center closed, leaving me without a place to stay. Luckily, I immediately went to Airbnb and found Dominic’s place, and I am so glad I did! Delta airlines changed my flights multiple times due to the pandemic, so my arrival and departure times seemed to vary week-to-week. When the times were finally certain, I contacted Josh to see if I could check-in any earlier than 3 pm since my new flight arrived at 1:30-ish. Also asked if I could check out any later, if he didn’t have any other incoming guests, than 11 am on my departure date since my flight was changed to 6:30 pm. (It was also very alluring to get the chance to sleep in after months of studying, stressing, lots of masked-air-travel, then two consecutive masked-days at the bar exam.) At first I was a little frustrated because he said no to both things, even though he didn’t have another guest coming directly after me, which meant I was stressing out (even more in general) trying to figure out what the heck I was going to do in this pandemic with a looming bar exam the next day then worrying for afterward, seeing that the airport is a horrible breeding ground for viral spread. Ultimately and thankfully, things worked out after he told me that he would let me stay for the couple extra hours I was requesting beyond checkout time if I paid for an extra day at a half-rate, since he told me he expected his place to be booked solid. I didn’t want to risk it being booked the day I left, on a Thursday at end of July, so I paid him the extra money plus the 25% service fees to Airbnb. That way I could ensure I had the ability to sleep in and relax for 4 more hours the day after the bar exam. Shortly after I paid for the extra day, he also miraculously got the place ready a little earlier for me so things were good to go by the time I arrived at the place in my Uber. The studio was immaculately clean, had a fun industrial-chic vibe, provided a Keurig with coffee pods, glasses and plates, and other thoughtful little touches throughout, which any traveler might need. I liked the addition of the white noise machine, it helped with the train noises. I also liked the security measures for the building. I ordered UberEats a few times and instead of them being able to leave it outside my door, I did have to take the elevator down to meet the drivers at the front door of the building, but that isn’t a big deal. The steps to gain access at first seemed a little intense and overwhelming, but they truly just made it idiot-proof. Once I was there, everything was easy. If I ever were to have to take the bar exam again (please no) or be in that area of Birmingham for an visit, I would skip any hotel and stay here in a heartbeat! Thanks for the rapid communication, clean, well-decorated, and nice place to stay.”
This place is suited for couples and solo travelers. Remarkable elements of this place are the king bed, the proximity to everything downtown; including the central city neighborhood, financial district, and theater district. It is conveniently located near nightlife, restaurants, public transport, and parks. If you want to experience Birmingham from the heart of downtown, this should be at the top of your list.
“This was our second time staying in one of Josh’s apartments and it did not disappoint! My husband and I travel through Birmingham a decent bit and have agreed that we will check availability at Josh’s listings first - we LOVE the decor, thoughtful touches, cleanliness, restaurant recommendations, and location. And Josh is always very responsive, easy to communicate with, and a wonderful host. We 100% recommend staying here!”

“Stephanie and Jeb’s place is a charming ground floor apt in fabulous home in a lovely neighborhood that puts you close to everything. Stephanie and Jeb are utterly delightful and the place is comfortable, organized, easy and spotless. I drove in on my way to meet a colleague in Knoxville. It was my first time out of state since COVID and I was a bit nervous but everything was graceful and gracious. I felt COVID-Safe 100% and so enjoyed my rest.”
